The TCML- Twin Cities Chinese Language School within the Minnesota Twin Cities Chinese Language School. Established in 1976, it's the state's sole traditional character-focused institution. Its aim is to preserve Mandarin and Taiwanese culture. It welcomes non-native speakers, facilitating cultural understanding and promoting Taiwan tourism. Alongside Mandarin courses, it provides diverse cultural programs, fostering community engagement. The TCML- Twin Cities Chinese Language School, founded in late 2023, caters to adults over 18, offering beginner to advanced classes in small groups. Using specialized teaching materials, it supplements learning with cultural and festival activities, making it Minnesota's premier Mandarin learning destination.
The center's curriculum emphasizes language and cultural education. In classes, teachers focus on pronunciation, sentence structure, real-life dialogues, and reading and writing exercises. Speech conferences and advanced classes encourage students to write and publish their Mandarin storybooks. Cultural activities include traditional holiday celebrations like making lanterns for the Lantern Festival and crafting zongzi for the Dragon Boat Festival. Additionally, aspects of Taiwanese history and culture such as tea art, night markets, and local cuisine are integrated into teaching. Classes are open to adults over 18 with diverse backgrounds, meeting on Saturdays for physical instruction in small groups.
