Located in the heart of Europe, Belgium is a multicultural country with three official languages. The Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning in Belgium aims to provide a direct way for Belgians and other foreigners to get to know the heart of Asia, Taiwan, which is also multicultural and multilingual. Providing language learning and understanding of Taiwan's culture, we aim to collaborate with organizations in Taiwan to provide overseas learning experiences for the learners in our center. In addition, we hope to become a place for those who would like to stay in touch with Taiwan after their visit.
The courses in TCML are designed to develop four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), as well as the understanding various cultures in Taiwan. The first half of the three-hour weekly course focuses on the pronunciation, and the second half uses the "Let’s Learn Mandarin" materials developed by the Overseas Community Affairs Council to guide learners through the basic grammars and vocabularies and slowly leading them to conversations. During the twelve-week course, in addition to language learning, we will introduce culture-related topics, such as: festivals (Lunar New Year, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, etc.), customs (gift-giving culture, greetings, etc.).
