EFCI Chinese School, a division of the EFCI Cultural Center, was established in 1993. Our mission is to honor and preserve Taiwanese and Chinese heritage while promoting Christian values in our communities. We base our teaching materials on textbooks published by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan. Our classes cover a range from Zhuyin class, Book 1 to Book 9. Students will learn traditional characters writing and recognize simplified characters. Additionally, students begin learning Pinyin after completing Book 3. In 2024, EFCI Chinese School established the Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning, offering practical and systematic Mandarin instruction and cultural experiences for adults aged 18 and older.
The course design is learner-centered and adopts a theme-based teaching approach, allowing students to simulate language learning in real-life situations. Taiwanese customs and culture are also integrated into the curriculum through various activities and traditional festivals. In the classroom, traditional characters are taught, and the main textbook used is "Let’s Learn Mandarin" published by the Taiwan Overseas Community Affairs Council, with other materials such as "Speak Mandarin in Five Hundred Words" and "Speak Mandarin in One Thousand Words" and various online resources used as supplementary materials.
